The cult of personality is not built solely around the image of a leader. It also depends on those who surround them, listen to them, and turn them into a figure capable of representing something greater than themselves.

All Together brings together images of crowds gathered around ten political leaders from different moments and places in history. The leaders almost disappear from the images; what remains are the bodies that sustain them as such. Beneath each crowd appears a statement made by each leader in relation to God, preserved in its original language.

Atheists, believers, or openly opposed to religion, their words place them in a particular relationship with that which they deny, invoke, or seek to replace. The work thus shifts the gaze from the leader to the crowd and asks at what point a political figure ceases to represent power and begins to embody it.
